Charter of Rights Now Interactive in 5 Languages

February 7, 2007 - SailorJones Media is delighted to announce the launch of the German, Italian and Chinese language Web sites for The Fundamental Freedoms Project are now available at www.charterofrights.ca and www.chartesdesdroits.ca

Having launched the English and French sites in June 2006, the German, Italian and Chinese languages are the first installment in a series of 11 languages online planned for the Fundamental Freedoms Project. The Fundamental Freedoms Project is a multi-platform, web, documentary and DVD-ROM initiative examining Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Key to the Charter of Rights Web site is accessibility. "The Charter can be a complicated document to understand, especially for new Canadians with English as a second language", said Executive Producer, Barbara Jones. Making our Website available in multiple languages is important for various ethno cultural communities across Canada...it's about bringing the Charter to as many language groups and cultures as possible", she added.

Rich in content, the German, Italian and Chinese sites feature:

• Close to 1 hour of streaming video interviews, with over 40 minutes of compelling audio voiced in 5 languages.

• Zoomable" images of the Charter in over 20 languages

• Designed for the visually and hearing impaired

• Extensive links to other human rights resources

• Extensive explanations of Canadian rights related legal cases

The 6 additional languages planned for production include: Spanish, Inukitut, Cree, Polish, Portuguese and Punjabi.
